Bramcote

BramcoteA lovely old town which borders Stapleford and originally the main road between Nottingham and Derby dissected the village.

This has now been replaced by the main A52 Brian Clough Way and Bramcote village remains quaint and unspoiled.

It has a narrow and winding road which passes through a narrow hairpin bend known locally as ‘Devil’s Bend’.

In the late 1960’s the country house which was situated on the north side of the village was demolished and became what is now Bramcote Hills Park.

Churches include the C of E, St Michael and All Angels situated on Church Street and dates from 1961. The church was built to replace St Luke’s on Town Street of which only the tower and churchyard remain. It is known locally as ‘The Sunken Church’.
