Trowell church dates back to the 14th Century although an earlier church, which existed on the site is mentioned in the Domesday Book.In 1951 Trowell was named the ‘Festival Village’ for the Festival of Britain and the pub, built afterwards was named because of this.
The Nottingham Canal which is a Nature Reserve managed by the Broxtowe Borough Council runs through Trowell.
